The weekend before I left for Texas, I left for somewhere else. The Bay Area, Novato in North Bay to be exact. For the night. Why you ask? Well, I got to be aunt extraordinaire for the night! You see, one of Rylen’s cousins was getting married at a winery in Sonoma, so her whole family would be attending. In enters Aunt Courtney. I volunteered to watch the girls while they all went to celebrate with the newlyweds and get their party on.
I was able to snap a few pictures before everyone left…
Reading with MorMor…
After that. Everyone left and all hell broke lose! These sweet little angels were not sweet nor were they angels. All odds were against me though. 1) They weren’t home. 2) Mom and Dad were gone. 3) They didn’t get their normal afternoon nap. Needless to say it was a rough night for all of us. We walked from the hotel to Safeway, to the far end of the shopping center, back to the hotel, around the parking lot…27 times…up to the room, cried, back in the stroller, back to the parking lot, back to Safeway (where I wish I bought a bottle of wine for myself, but settled on blackberry cabernet sorbet from their gelato bar, back to the parking lot for another 13 laps, then back up to the room. Bottles – Nope. Baths – only temporary. It was bed time, they were tired, I was tired. So, I did what Rylen suggested, I put them in their cribs and got in the shower where the running water slightly drowned out the sounds of their cries. By the time I got out, Carson was asleep and Harper was fight it. So I crawled in bed with a book and dim lights, where I read and prayed that H would fall asleep soon and the evening wouldn’t scar them for life and they’d still love me. I’ll let you know the outcome on that one years from now.
The next day, after breakfast, the guys went golfing and the women headed into Sonoma to see the bride and groom (or more like let them see the twins). It was also put your money in the fireman’s boot day! I was so tempted to put my number in instead of money. 🙂 The girls saw family, we walked around the plaza, then headed home.
But not until after I purchased this beauty. You’re welcome over any time! Just stop by!
Just kidding. Call first.
